A family sea
The Marina's beach is one of the most family-friendly on this coast: the seabed slopes gradually, the shore is wide and mostly free, and even in high summer you can find quiet stretches where children have room to play and dig.
The sand is pale, mixed with gravel and small pebbles especially near the shore: water shoes are handy for delicate feet. The equipped lidos offer umbrellas, snack bars and pedalo rental.
The promenade
The palm-lined promenade links the beach to the village and works well with a stroller. It is the heart of summer life: the evening walk, the bars, and in August the beach volleyball tournament on the sand.
A children's summer
The town's Guardavalle d'Estate programme fills July and August: open-air cinema in the old town's alleys, candlelit evenings on the promenade, fireworks over the sea for the Carmine feast in July.
In early September comes the feast children remember most: the Palio del Ciuccio, a donkey race between the old districts, with flag throwers, archers and falconers.

Caretta caretta sea turtles nest on this beach: a small wonder to share with children. If you find a fenced-off patch of sand in late summer, it is a nest waiting to hatch: watch from a distance, no touching, no lights at night. Nature is to be watched, not disturbed.

The waterfall with a natural pool
Inland, the Assi stream forms a natural pool where people swim in summer. Paths are not always marked: suited to families with older kids, best with a guide.
Soverato, half an hour
The white beach, the seahorse promenade, the shops and the evening-walk gelato.
Badolato in December
The nativity-scene village: during the holidays a living nativity turns its alleys into an enchanted stage.
The Marina's pharmacy is on Via Provinciale and the nearest hospital is in Soverato, about 24 km away. For any emergency call 112. And if the whole family needs room, Casa Morello's apartments go up to 160 square metres.
